MISCELLANEOUS WINTER FESTIVAL INFORMATION

We think we have a great festival planned for you in 2012. Our ’12 headliners are Janita Baker, Leo Kretzner, Maddie MacNeil, and Sam Rizetta. In addition, I’m pleased to announce that David Moran and Joe Morgan will perform as part of the Friday Evening Concert.

We have also assembled another first-class "local" staff, many in demand as headliners at other festivals around the country. Put it all together and you have a weekend filled with informative workshops, outstanding concerts, and good times. We hope you’ll be able to join us.

We have a few openings for VOLUNTEERS in the Thursday Afternoon Setup and Saturday night cleanup crew. Last year, we had plenty of help until Saturday night after the concert. We are unable to offer any monetary compensation to our volunteers, but you will earn our undying gratitude. We will reserve the first couple of rows front and center in the concert area for you. You’ll have the only reserved seats in the house. To join our crew, call Linda at 940-387-4001.

The WORKSHOPS are, for the most part, hands-on, so bring your instruments. Audio recorders are permitted in workshops, so long as it’s for your own use. It is unlawful to sell or distribute anything recorded at Winter Festival. No video recording allowed without prior express written permission from each individual staff member who will be taped. No video, audio taping, or still photographs are allowed in concerts without prior permission of every staff member being recorded or photographed.

Some of the workshop staff had more information than we could fit on the tiny schedule space. This year, we’re also posting any ADDITIONAL WORKSHOP INFORMATION we were given by individual staff members. These will be posted online, along with this and other WF pages, at the LSSDS web site and the LindaLoweThompson web site

At the FLEA MARKET TABLE, you can place used instruments for sale. This is not for instruments you’ve built to offer for sale. This is near the Staff Booth. LSSDS and WF will not participate in the transaction and can’t be responsible for instruments there, but we’ll all try to keep an eye on them. We’ve not lost anything from there, yet.

DEADLINES FOR ORDERS: Orders that include tee shirts or sweatshirts must be postmarked by January 23^rd to be honored. This year, there will be fewer tee shirts available for sale at the festival and they’ll be $3 more onsite. I urge you to order them ahead of time. If you’d like to have them mailed to you, contact Linda and we’ll arrange that. Orders for tickets only must be postmarked by February 6^th. Orders mailed after these dates will be subject to “At the Door” prices. If you ask for a refund on an advance ticket, there will be a $10 handling fee charged.

SPECIAL MOTEL RATES: Once again, we’re using the Super 8-Irving Motel. The Super-8 is on the NW corner of Hwy 183 (Airport Freeway) and Esters Road. For reservations, call 972-257-1810. Ask for the Winter Festival group rate, which is $40/night plus tax. They have a meeting room that should be available for jamming after the festival each evening. There are a number of other hotels/motels in the South DFW Airport area, but we only have arrangements for a special rate at the Super-8. We only have a certain number of rooms blocked off for WF participants, so call and reserve yours now.

ATTENTION RVers and CAMPERS: There is no overnight camping at the festival site. The limited space available is reserved for a couple of our crafts vendors. No other campers will be allowed. There are nice RV parks/campgrounds at Trader’s Village in Grand Prairie and at Cedar Hill State Park. Both are about 20-30 minutes away, depending on traffic.

FOOD will be available at the church during the day as well as dinner each night. This service is brought to you by, and benefits the church’s youth organization. Check to see whether you need to make a reservation for dinner. It’s really nice to have a chance to eat onsite and visit with friends, extending the festival experience. However, other food is available nearby. McDonald’s and Arby’s are across the street and other restaurants are close.
