MADDIE MacNEIL

SINGING for the JOY OF SINGING

Want to sing? That's the only "requirement" for this workshop. We'll work on ways to make singing easier for you while expanding the voice's range. Most important, we'll sing in harmony with each other and enjoy our individual voices.

PERFORMING IDEAS AND TECHNIQUES

There are many wonderful opportunities for us to perform, and there are many ways we can prepare via "stage" setups, set lists, introductions, and, of course, responses to the listeners' grateful applause. We'll explore.

ANNETTE LINDSEY

PIANO (KEYBOARD) BACKUP FOR OTHER INSTRUMENTS

You will need to be familiar enough with the piano that you know where the notes are.  The first hour we will work on how to know when to change the chord and what to change to and where to locate the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions for those chords.  Visuals will be provided.  The second hour we will work on technique when you are chording behind an instrument to give it that oomph and hopefully get a little practice in playing with an instrument.

Bring a small (66 key or larger) keyboard with you so that you can have hands-on experience.  It's what will make the difference in how much you learn from this class.  We will try to have several extras for those who don't have keyboards.

LUCILLE REILLY

AUTOHARP: PAINTING WITH BRUSHES

Brushing the strings various ways in a tune's "silent" beats can add new dimensions to autoharping.  Apply a variety of brush techniques to a simple tune.  Bring THREE fingerpicks and one thumb pick.

AUTOHARP: DOTTED RHYTHMS

Play a familiar tune while mastering the rhythm of pinch-brush.  Bring THREE fingerpicks and one thumb pick.

ALL INSTRUMENTS: ARMS ARE FOR MAKING MUSIC

Come and explore how the arms are designed toward making music with abandon that sounds great.  For anyone who experiences discomfort or pain while making music, those who wish to avoid discomfort/pain, and for everyone who believes making music needs to feel easy.  There will be time at the end to apply the concepts presented to your individual instrument, so bring it along if you can.

MARGARET WRIGHT

SACRED HARP

Have you ever heard/been involved in Sacred Harp singing?

Come experience it again or for the first time. It's an invigorating and inspiring experience. She's having it in the eating area and anyone is invited to join, whether or not you've purchased a ticket that includes workshop participation.
